As Sylvan Hills High School welcomes our new faculty on campus, I would like to introduce one of our new English teachers in Building 12: Mrs. Julie Cone.
Mrs. Cone joined SHHS on August 14, 2023. Mrs. Cone stated the she wanted to become a teacher ever since she was a little girl; “I wanted to make the world a better place by teaching my students how to improve their reading and writing skills,” she said. Mrs. Cone says she would even pretend to teach her siblings, and that it was something that she loved to do.
Cone recommends content for the objective that best fits her class, and she would go along with that lesson so students are able to take it all in. Cones’ most successful lessons are when students participate in giving presentations and learn from them.
At times, when Mrs. Cone is teaching a lesson and it becomes long and boring to students, she tries her best to get to the point and move on to the next activity. There was a time when Mrs. Cone was challenged by students, one thing she tried was gaining their trust and also getting to know them, which made teaching a lot smoother. They soon realized she was a great teacher.
Welcome, Mrs. Cone.
