About

The Hillside Banner is a publication created by students of Sylvan Hills High School Student Media, the advanced publications program at Sylvan Hills High School. Our staff is led by editor-in-chief Emily White and is advised by Michael Scroggins. Sylvan Hills High School is located in Sherwood, Arkansas. We average around 1,100 students for grades 10 through 12.

Our staff’s goal is to tell the stories of our school and publish a legacy while practicing good journalism. We want our readers to be informed, educated and entertained. Further, our program wants every group on campus to be a part of the conversation we present as a media outlet. We value and understand the importance of the media and the impact it has on the community. Please check in for the latest stories and updates; we’ll always keep you posted.

We produce The Bruin yearbook, planned and produced by our student staff from cover to cover. You can order the 2025 Bruin here.

In addition to the stories posted here, you will find access to an online version of our Literary Magazine, The Breeze Magazine. The Breeze has had a long history at Sylvan Hills, being one of the first high school literary magazines of its kind in the nation. When available, we will post past Breeze Magazines under the archives section.
