As the 2026 season ends for the boys and girls soccer teams, so does their journey through the State Finals. The boys team concluded their season with an overall 8-8-3 record and placed 4th in the 5A conference. Following that, the girls team ended their season with an overall 9-9-1 record as they placed 4th in their conference.
The boys and girls teams played Thursday, May 14 in the first round of State Finals where they both lost. The boys team lost against Benton High School with a final score of 1-4; While the girls finished off their game against Lakeside High School with a final score of 6-0.
When asked how she felt about her last season, senior Ryan Cordell replied, “I think this season was a season where our chemistry within the team was tested and we pulled through and came out as a family. Through the ups and downs we only got closer and supported one another”. Ryan Cordell is the starting center middle for the girls soccer team. She has also taken the role of team Captain for her junior and senior year, playing a valuable role in the team’s success.
Senior Jackson Alexander also played a valuable role in the boys soccer team. Jackson is the starting right wing and team captain for the team. With scoring 11 goals and 2 assists this season, Jackson played a big part in getting the team to the State Finals. “I think the most important part about being on the soccer team is the brotherhood and trust between everyone. Talent matters, but having teammates who push each other, support each other, and work for the same goal is what really makes a team successful”, says Jackson Alexander.
Overall, both the boys and girls soccer teams showed determination, teamwork, and perseverance throughout the 2026 season. Although their seasons ended in the first round of the State Finals, the players and coaches helped build strong team chemistry and created long lasting memories along the way. With leadership from seniors and support from teammates, both teams finished the year with accomplishments they can be proud of.
