Recently the Sylvan Hills track team went to the state level competition to finish off this year of track. Sylvan Hills finished with multiple athletes placing at State.
State Places:
Kenan Morris placed 1st in high jump with a jump of 6’7″.
Deryeus Fowkles placed 1st in triple jump with a jump of 46.75″.
Paris Wilbur finished 2nd in the 200m with a time of 25.72 seconds.
The Boys 4x400m relay(Jackson Dowdy, Aayden Jordan, Daylon Brooks, Antonio Reed) finished 2nd place with a time of 3:27.51.
A couple school records were also achieved. First by the boys 4x400m relay, in which their 3:27.51 time set a new school record. Antonio Reed also set a new school record in the 800m with a time of 1:59.64.
The athletes on the track team had a lot of chances to grow both as a teammate and person over the season. Junior, Jackson Dowdy, says “I grew as a person this season by learning the value of hard work and dedication, and also trusting in God, my training, my teammates, and my coaches.”
