This past Thursday and Friday, students at Sylvan Hills learned about the different clubs being offered this year on the Hillside.
Club rush is one of the main things students look forward to doing, because we, as teenagers, can experience what it’s like being around people who have the same interests as ourselves.
Clubs that set up for this event included: The Art Club, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Beauty Shop, Barber Shop, Gospel Choir, Gay Straight Alliance, Skills USA, Book Club, Quill & Scroll, Quiz Bowl, Griot Players, PAC Tech Team, Fire Marshals, Forensics-Speech & Debate, DECA, Young Ladies of Excellence, and Youth Alive. More clubs can be found by going to the Sylvan Hills Extracurricular activities page found here: https://shhs.pcssd.org/o/sylvan-hills-high-school/page/extracurricular-activities
What club would you like to join? I have heard that many athletes want a sports club where they can go and talk about sports and argue about who is the best in the league. Some other students and a teacher want a BEARZONE club. Getting a BEARZONE club would be great. The BEARZONE is loud, but with a club, it could get even louder. Remember, if you want a club, you’ll need a faculty sponsor and a student who initiates the idea. You can then bring up the idea to administration, and your club can be added the next year. So those of you out there with some great ideas, make it happen!
I’m most looking forward to joining DECA and Chess Club. DECA is about business which I love because I’m very into business and want to own my own business one day. Chess Club on the other hand will be something that I can do to relax.
Be sure to fill out the poll on the number of clubs you’re planning on joining.
