Ms. Tasha Middaugh teaches Avid in building 01 room 213. She has been teaching for 17 years and is now in her first year at Sylvan Hills High School. She came to Sylvan Hills because she was considering leaving the teaching profession and thought, “let me do something totally different first and see if I still love it, and I do.”

She came into the teaching profession, because she had a pretty rough upbringing. She didn’t live with either her mom or dad and lived with her grandma some of the time. She lived with her babysitter a lot of the time. So when she did go to school she was able to eat and be loved. She had teachers who looked after her, and decided that she wanted to do that for kids.

Ms. Middaugh’s favorite unit to teach was about rocks, minerals, and gemstones. Back when she was a gifted and talented teacher, her class learned how crystals are formed, and then they went to the crystal mine in Hot Springs and dug up crystals. They had them professionally photographed and created a crystal commercial. She is an open book and loves nature, and gardening. Just recently she started growing some baby plants in a little greenhouse she made.
