This morning at approximately 9:30 a.m. the fire alarm went off in the main building and in the performing arts center of Sylvan Hills High School. The school announced afterwards that a fire alarm was triggered in one of the boys’ bathrooms.
Students in the 01 building didn’t hear an alarm according to interviews.
Sophomore Levi Ellis stated, “I had a friend in the old building that heard the fire trucks before the alarms, because there weren’t any alarms in the old building.”
The alarms rang out in buiding 12, the Performing Arts Center and the arena according to students questioned.
The fire marshall team evacuated the buildings and had all areas cleared within five minutes, according to an informational release to parents.
Sophomore Cristable Bako stated, “I thought it was a drill. A lot of people thought it was a drill. But in my first period class there was a weird sound before the fire alarm. Someone said the pipes burst near the English classrooms on the second floor.”
