Sylvan Hills conducted their annual college and career fair on Friday, February 28. This event had many widespread opportunities for sophomores , juniors and seniors to explore different paths for their future.
Sophomore , Jayia Bradley had this to say about the college fair, “As a student at Sylvan Hills High School planning to go to college, I believe that the college fair exposed me to different people, which exposed me to different opportunities that I could pursue once I get to college. For example, different pathways and how to take a lead in life. I had a great time meeting all the professional people and mentors. ”
The college career fair gives students opportunities to engage in questions and talk to professionals about their day to day work lives. It’s such a beneficial first hand experience for scholars here at Sylvan Hills High since our mentors’ goals are to better us and prepare us for the real world and what’s to come.
Senior Kamorean Matthews , had this to say about the college fair, ¨Student Council makes it their duty to not only keep up the morale of the student body, but to also expose and educate them on possible Career and Higher Education choices that fit their interest.¨
For students who attended, they were each given a list of questions at the arena door they could ask the professionals inside. This was helpful for students who may have upcoming job interviews or internships and were needing pointers on what to say when speaking in a professional setting.
