Did you know one of the teachers at Sylvan Hills has been working here for 33 years? That’s over three decades of helping students learn and grow! Her name is Mrs. Scallon.

She decided to become a teacher because of her love for athletics. “Mostly because of sports growing up,” she said. That experience inspired her to work with students and make a difference.

Sylvan Hills is the only school she’s ever taught at. When asked if she had worked anywhere else, she simply said, “Nope, only here.” Her favorite subject to teach is English, and she still enjoys it after all these years.

What brought her to Sylvan Hills in the first place? “They had a job opening, but there was also a drill team sponsor, and the school was close to where I lived,” she said. That decision turned into a long meaningful career.

Outside of school, she has some cool hobbies that most students might not know about. She owns chickens and enjoys going to flea markets in her free time.

After 33 years at Sylvan Hills, this incredible teacher is still going strong and continues to inspire students everyday. I notice her to be one of the kindest teachers at SH. She’s very caring. We Are So Lucky To Have Her!
