Carolyn Lipsmeyer, Ellen Cook, Sally Arocha, Prentice Dupins, and Denny Tipton announced their retirements at the end of this 2024-2025 school year. Each dedicated their careers to outstanding educational service. We at the Banner wish them well heading into their next chapters, which they are sure to enjoy.
Teacher of the year honors, as voted on by the teachers, went to Daniel Bristo, who thanked his peers and offered that he truly enjoyed his time at Sylvan Hills. Teachers commented that Bristo was such a strong positive presence throughout the year both inside the classroom and outside coaching. His students truly felt his positive impact and appreciated his attention to them. A position closer to home came available, so as he sends us his regrets that he has to leave us, his wife will be much pleased for him to be closer to home next year.
Staff competed in ‘paper, rock, scissors’ for beads, and drawings were held for prizes. It got a little crazy and Banner staff doesn’t remember who won, though there were some great battles.
Denny Tipton was wished well as he heads over to Pulaski Academy after retirement to coach. Once a coach always a coach holds true. Mrs. Duncan delivered his parting gift.
Coach Collins once again delivered on food. He, with Coach Hamilton assisting, fried catfish, chicken, hush puppies, fries, and pies.
