On Saturday, August 23, the Sylvan Hills thespian members attended the Thespian meeting at Cabot High School. The meeting was mostly about information regarding what was going on in the thespian society. It was also a chance to meet other members from different schools and talk to them about what shows they were doing and what shows that Sylvan Hills are doing.
Since it was halloween themed they had a costume contest. The founding father from the play Hamilton won the costume contest. There was also a relay race involving turning someone into a mummy. They also did a rap battle against leaders.
Each speaker had a group, they each talked about certain aspects that go with being in a thespian community. The speakers spoke about fundraising opportunities, leadership roles, who they could speak to about the problems they come across in theatre.
Toward the end of the event, they played some more games before they decided to leave. Before they left, they wanted to get the other schools’ social media information to stay in contact and form a closer community. The Sylvan Hill thespian members were able to take away new views on how to enhance their experience in theatre, how to become better leaders, have better attitudes, and how to improve their program.
After attending this event, the members of Sylvan Hills Thespians have gained more confidence in their performances, skills, and with their communication. This was a great opportunity for Sylvan Hills to improve their productions and Theatre program.
