
The Sylvan Hills Bears took down the Benton Panthers 40-35 to bring their record up to 4-1.
This is the Bears first conference win of the season, making them 1-1 in conference play.
The Bears had two turnovers in the first half that both ended in a Benton touchdown which gave Benton the edge in the first half. Going into halftime, the Bears were down 14-21 to the Panthers.
The Bears tied the game up 21-21 midway through the second quarter with a 35 yard rushing touchdown from running back Isaiah Howell.

Quarterback Tyler Hampton then passed the ball to wide receiver Lakobe Brent who took it 70 yards to the house to extend the bears lead to 28-21.
The Panthers responded by scoring two straight touchdowns to take the lead back making the score 28-35. The Bears then fumbled giving possession back to the Panthers in the 4th quarter with the Bears down by 7.
Benton started to march down the field and got inside the RedZone but the Bears stood tall on third down and goal by forcing a fumble to gain back possession.
Running back EJ Duckery then broke big for a 50 yard rushing touchdown with help from down field blocks from the Bears wide receivers Ryan Parham and Lakobe Brent. The Bears decided to attempt the 2 point conversion but were unsuccessful, leaving them still down 34-35.
The Bears defense got a stop and then Isaiah Howell took the ball 73 yards to the end zone to
put the Bears up 40-35 after another unsuccessful 2 point attempt.The Bears then got a turnover to gain back possession, and after a few snaps in the victory formation, the Bears won the game 40-35.
Quarterback Tyler Hampton had 229 passing yards with a pair of touchdowns and a two interceptions. Hampton also reached the end zone on the ground once for a rushing touchdown.
Running backs Isaiah Howell and EJ Duckery combined for 336 rushing yards. Howell had 179 of those along with 2 rushing touchdowns and one fumble. Duckery had 157 yards and two touchdowns as well.
Lakobe Brent led the way in the receiving game with 4 receptions for 102 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The Bears Head to El Dorado this Friday to take on the Wildcats hoping to get another big conference win and extend their record to 5-1.
