The Sylvan Hills Bears beat the El Dorado Wildcats 25-10 making their record now 5-1. This win brings the Bears up to first place in the 6A East.
It was a slow first half with both teams having 7 points on the board entering halftime making the score 7-7 at the break.
In the second half the Bears pulled away with 2 rushing touchdowns from running back Isaiah Howell and a receiving touchdown from wide receiver Ryan Parham.
The Bears defense held El dorado to no end zone scores in the entire second half, leading to the ending score 25-10.
Quarterback Tyler Hampton threw for 226 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception.
Running backs Isaiah Howell and EJ duckery lead the backfield combining for 252 yards rushing. Howell had 160 yards and 3 touchdowns and Duckery Had 93 yards rushing.
The ball was spread out through the air with three receivers bringing in 5+ receptions and 50+ yards. Ryan Parham brought in 5 receptions for 86 yards and 1 touchdown. Tyler Blakely had 5 receptions for 50 yards receiving. Lakoba Brent had 8 receptions for 71 receiving yards.
The Bears have seen a lot of success so far this year with wins against Maumelle, Vilonia, Russellville, Benton, and Now El Dorado.
When asked about the success so far this season, Head Coach Mark Kelley gave credit to the players saying that this success is “really just a reflection of all the hard work these guys put in”.
The Bears(5-1) host their homecoming game against the West Memphis Blue Devils (0-6) this Friday, Oct 17, at 7:00pm.
