“I feel relatively good about making state, and I’m very happy that I did. When preparing for state, I made sure to practice all areas of my game so I could ensure great results. I like that golf doesn’t come easy to me and that it’s a challenge. I picked up this sport from my dad. My inspiration has to be my swing coach because he has a great attitude towards every part of golf. I would tell a beginner to practice their short game, because that’s where you score the most.” –Sophomore Hailey Middaugh
“Making State was very important to me. I feel like it was hard working to get to where I am. What went into preparations for the game of golf was just a lot of practice. I’ve played golf pretty much my entire life, and I love playing. I enjoy hitting the ball most, and just enjoying being out there in the fresh breeze. I came to pick up this sport mostly because of my family. They’ve helped me become a better golfer ever since I’ve started. We’re a golfing family, so we will play golf every chance we get. My inspiration is my aunt. She’s really helped me improve on my golfing. She’s been one of my biggest inspirations. If I was talking to a beginner in golf, I’d just say: think about one thing. Too much on your mind while playing golf will not be much fun considering golf is the game of patience. Other than that, I’d say just go out there and have fun. Try your best to shoot the lowest score.” –Sophomore Taylor Adams
“I’m pretty excited to be going to State. With it being my senior year, it’s a little bittersweet. I’m still preparing for Sate, the thing with sports is you can always improve..especially in golf. I really enjoy being outside and having something to work towards; plus, I can play it for the rest of my life. The only way I came to pick up golf was through Covid. I was doing virtual school and wanted to do something. Since golf was one of the only sports that wasn’t shut down, I gave it a shot and loved it.If I was telling a beginner what to practice, I’d tell them to practice everything. You can always tweak your swing, you can always make more putts, always improve your chipping technique, etc. There’s always something to work towards.” -Senior Tyler Forst
If you see any of these students in the hallways, be sure to congratulate them.
