Thursday, September 28, 2023, the Sylvan Hills Varsity Lady Bears volleyball team defeated Little Rock Christian Academy.
The Lady Bears took it all in just four sets. For the first set, the ladies won easily: 25-15. In the second set, the Lady Bears had some adversity thrown at them and lost by just three points: 22-25. That adversity may have helped them though, as the Ladies were able to win the third set 25-17 by overcoming and learning how to adjust to what was being thrown at them.
The fourth set was close and nerve-wracking. This set had everyone on the edge of their seats. Little Rock Christian Academy caught up in score to the Lady Bears and were on their tail, only a point or two behind. On game point, 24-23, Brylee Overman served an ace and helped lead the team to victory.
Little Rock Christian Academy won the Volleyball State Championships the last year, so with this win, the Lady Bears appear to be on the rise. The question becomes: what can the Lady Bears do? These ladies handled everything great, from the coverage behind blocks to the hustle. So, the answer becomes: Win. Keep working hard and making plays. Finish strong, Ladies.
