Malachi Summons took two shots last night in the Sylvan Hills Bears’ boys basketball win over El Dorado. Summons’s last shot proved to be the game winner. With only seconds remaining, he drove to the hoop, made his shot, and was fouled right after shooting. With the score now tied at 53, Malachi had to have had ice water in his veins. He stepped up to the free throw line, shot his free throw, and brought the score to 54-53 as the Bear Student Section came unglued.
El Dorado called timeout. They then managed a shot to the left side of the court three point line. The buzzer rang out as their player double pumped and banked his shot off the glass and in. Time had expired before the shot, giving the Bears (1-0) their first victory of the season.
Deryeus Fowlkes led the Bears in scoring with 14. JJ Wise scored 12 all coming from 3-pointers, Devonte West added 11, and PJ Davis scored 10. Fowlkes led the team with 5 steals, while Davis led the team with 5 assists. Isaac Aaron led El Dorado with 18 points on 6/12 shooting. Bronson Brock led El Dorado with 4 steals while Isaiah Robinson led El Dorado with 5 assists.
