Sylvan Hills High School lost one of its beloved teachers yesterday afternoon after a battle with cancer. Mrs. Dunlap worked for PCSSD since 2002. She first taught at Oakbrooke Elementary but spent the last 8 years teaching life skills at Sylvan Hills High School. She sponsored the gardening club and was a vocal and encouraging presence on campus. She was often recognized for her superb work and connections with students. She was loved by staff and students alike. She will be greatly missed by her Bear family.
Senior counselor Ms. Lipsmeyer said, “Robin was one of a kind! Such a special person and so good with Adam. She treated all of her students as her own. I’m at a loss for words right now. Prayers for the family.”
Coach Clark said, “I can not put into words to describe what Robin Dunlap meant to my family and I. She was our biggest cheerleader. She absolutely loved Hatcher and let him play with sensory toys in her classroom.
“Over the years her life skills students did our laundry and helped us keep wrestlers to move her life-skills classrooms. She was always our biggest supporter and an absolute delight. Most importantly, she was a great friend.”
For anyone who needs to process the loss, please see a teacher or your counselor.
