With a full schedule and even fuller heart, Senior Haley Belin is one of the Hillside’s most involved and admired students.

Her time in high school has been defined by leadership roles, both academic and athletic. She’s one of the soccer captains, and is grateful to play with her teammates, describing them as “the most genuine, funny, kind, and caring girls I have ever met.”

She also leads our school community in meaningful ways beyond the field. A member of Senior Exec and student council president, she’s been trusted by her peers to represent them well, even being named our Homecoming Queen. Her student council role has pushed her to grow in ways she never expected. “I feel that it has allowed me to grow my skills in overcoming adversity and adapting to change,” she shared.

Balancing leadership, sports, and classwork isn’t always easy, but she credits her faith and a strong support system to help her stay grounded. That same support system inspired her to take on these leadership roles. She also credits a family friend for inspiring her to join Student Council and looks to Biblical stories, with their timeless lessons, as guidance in her everyday life.

Outside of school, she enjoys reading thrillers and spending time on creative hobbies like pottery, painting, and sewing. She also starts every morning with her Bible, using what she learns to guide her daily actions. This might surprise some, but she’s not just a soccer star—she takes kickboxing classes with her family as well.

She’s passionate about her future, with plans to major in biology and become a perfusionist. That goal can be attributed to her time in the Academy of Biomedical Sciences and a family history of heart disease. Becoming a perfusionist would put her on a path toward understanding and prevention, not only for herself, but for others as well.

After graduation, she wants to be remembered for two simple things: kindness and faith, praying that she will “display those qualities to all of [her] peers!”
