After 24 years at Sylvan Hills, volleyball coach and educator Michelle Muhammad is reflecting on a career built around one clear purpose: helping students succeed beyond the classroom and the court.
Muhammad has spent her time at Sylvan Hills focused on student growth, emphasizing lessons in discipline, teamwork, and responsibility. “I’ve always been in it for the kids,” Muhammad said, adding that she hopes students carry what they learn from her into their everyday lives long after high school.
Next year, she will transition from teaching Intro to Health Care into the EAST program, a change she says she welcomes. While the shift marks the end of a long chapter, Muhammad views it as an opportunity for growth rather than a departure from her mission.
“I just want to be my best self and help my students as much as I can,” she said.
