Humans on the Hillside - Morgan Perry

Here on the hillside, we love to recognize our students, especially when they are so involved in our community and school. The Hillside Banner would like to recognize Morgan Perry for her excellence and continuous involvement with Sylvan Hills.

Morgan, a senior at Sylvan Hills High School, is a part of many different organizations at Sylvan Hills, including serving as the DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) President. “I lead meetings and help guide our chapter toward success in competitions,” she holds many responsibilities and has great care for those wanting to succeed in achieving their dreams. When asked about other things she participates in she said “I’m also part of the Business Academy and the Marketing & Entrepreneurship Pathway, representing my school as an ambassador. In addition, I’m also a Student Council representative.”

Going along with the Marketing and Entrepreneurship Pathway, she is an entrepreneur herself, “I run my own fashion business called M.E. Marie, which I started at 14.” She designs and sells custom couture and ready-to-wear pieces. Morgan has a great talent when it comes to fashion and a keen eye for beauty and style. Her plans are to attend college to study finance or economics. “My goal is to expand my fashion brand into a global fashion house, while creating opportunities for others in the industry.”

Being a part of so many things on campus, she is bound to find some favorite aspects of the school. “My favorite part about SHHS is how many opportunities there are to grow as a leader. Whether it’s DECA, business classes, or community involvement, I’ve been able to explore my interests and build real skills that connect to my future goals.” Morgan is a big leader in the Sylvan Hills community. She is always involved in the organizations found around campus.

To get to know her a little more, she is someone who cannot live without her sewing machine and music, which I am sure many others can agree on. “I’d love for people to know that everything I do comes from faith, hard work, and vision. I truly believe in designing your life with intention, and that’s the mindset I try to share with others everyday.”

Morgan’s teachers always have such high praise for her, “Morgan is a great leader with many qualities far more mature than most of her peers. She is assertive and ready to take charge with or without being asked,” said Jamie Briggs, Marketing and Small Business Teacher at Sylvan Hills. Mrs. Briggs is also the Bear Necessities/DECA Advisor, both of which Morgan participates and leads in. Mrs. Briggs also says “She stays on top of her duties as DECA President and rallies the rest of the leadership to get things done as well.” Mrs. Briggs was able to take a couple students to the ICDC (International Career Development Conference) competition in Florida last year, including Morgan. “Morgan won first in the state for her event in Marketing and went on to compete in Orlando, FL. She has worked hard to return to the big stage and is in search of a DECA glass at ICDC this year,” Mrs. Briggs praised.

Morgan Perry is a big contributor to the school community, and enjoys the roles she holds in leading herself and her peers to success. As someone who Morgan has helped in both academics and DECA, her leadership and compassion is a great power. She never hesitates to help her peers and coach DECA members through competitions. She is a wonderful person to be around, and The Hillside is lucky to have her as a Bear.
