Humans of the Hillside - Peyton Thompson

Before the year comes to a close, the Banner would like to recognize another one of our seniors, Peyton Thompson. Someone who is very involved, more than most people. Peyton is loved throughout many different communities, and it is safe to say that she is involved in almost every community. She does everything! She said “I am the president of Interact Club, Ambassador of the Academy of Central Arkansas for the Business Management and Pre-Educator pathways, a member of Student Voice, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, DECA, Youth Alive, a contributor to The Banner and the yearbook, and the social media manager for the journalism Instagram page,” when asked what clubs and organizations she is a part of.

Peyton’s love for God is strong, “my faith is the most important thing to me, so I’m very involved in my church and love reading my Bible.” Her friends always say she is either busy with school or reflecting while reading and annotating it. She is somebody who will always have a scripture in the Bible to point you towards.

She is all about having new opportunities to learn something new, no matter what it is, which is why she loves Sylvan Hills so much. “From pathway classes to electives, I’m grateful to attend a school where the only limit to my service and education is how willing I am to apply myself.” When it comes to Peyton, that limit is far out of sight, she will push herself and those around her to be the best they can all possibly be.

Peyton’s path to her future has had some detours, just like everyone else. Her plans are to major in Marketing at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, and she had an interesting way to discover this. “It used to be a joke within my friend group that if you needed anything done on Canva to call me, and once I realized I could make my little hobby a career I was all in!” She has always had a passion for helping and educating others with creativity. After doing some research, she found out that marketing was a combination of that and a creative outlet for herself. Not to mention she adores her Canva Pro account, it is something that she cannot live without, along with her Bible and coffee.
She gives all of her glory and credit to God. “Without his strength, love, and guidance I wouldn’t be where I am today.” Her life has been filled with lessons and new opportunities to learn something else. “…something I have learned is that every opportunity is a door opened, and it is opened for a reason. Of course every door isn’t meant for you to walk through, but if you feel an urge, even if it’s met with fear go for it!” Her optimism and good outlook on everything is contagious, even when she is scared as well. She guides herself and those around her through any challenge they may face. She has a motto that I think we should all take a second to learn from, “Where can I lead, learn, or love more?”
