The Sylvan Hills senior reflects on cheer, leadership, and what’s next after graduation.

At Sylvan Hills High School, senior Maddie Sims is making the most of her final year, leaving behind a legacy of leadership, dedication, and school spirit. Proud of her roots, she shares, “People should know that I love living here in Arkansas.” Through her involvement and determination, Maddie has become a standout member of the school community.

For the past four years, cheer has played a defining role in her high school experience. From football and basketball games to competitions, she says cheer “has defined my life at school” and shaped her journey in the best way possible. Her passion and enthusiasm have energized both her team and the crowd.

Balancing school, work, and dance, Maddie embraces her busy routine with gratitude. “Most of my days are the same, but it’s something I wouldn’t change,” she explains, highlighting her strong work ethic and positive outlook. Her dedication shows her commitment to making the most out of every opportunity.

This year, Maddie is especially proud of her accomplishments as a leader on the cheer team. “I am most proud of completing my last year of cheer with the accomplishment of being a leader of the group,” she says, adding that inspiring younger teammates pushes her to be a better person. She credits her father as her greatest inspiration, noting that she always strives to make him proud.

As she looks ahead, Maddie is excited for the future and the opportunities it holds. She plans to attend the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville to earn a bachelor’s degree in business. With her determination, school spirit, and heart for leadership, Maddie’s story is an inspiring reflection of what it means to be a Bear.
