The Sylvan Hills Bears boys basketball team made the first round playoffs, getting matched against the Farmington Cardinals who were the #2 seed on their side of the bracket. The Bears were the #3 seed on their side of the bracket. The Bears came into this game with their back against the wall, and all odds against them as Farmington was 82% picked by 131 people in a poll to win this match-up between the two. Only 13% picked the Bears to win this matchup.
Senior Pj Davis had this to say, “[n]obody thought we could win; they doubted us before we even hit the court or got on the bus. This year is special.”
The leading scorer for this game was Deryeus Fowlkes with 21 points and Pj Davis with 13. These big time guys led the Bears to their huge win last night winning 52 – 48. They will return to Greene County Tech High School today to take on the #1 seed Marion Patriots which looks to lineup as a good competitive game between the two schools, as Marion had a easy game the first round and Sylvan hills will be the first real match-up the Patriots will face.
Junior Deryues Fowlkes had this to say, “I told you no one can mess with this team. We are a great and empowering team when we all click.”
