The Sylvan Hills Bears took down the Jonesboro Hurricanes 49-42 on Friday, October 24.
The Bears were down early on and needed a big swing going into halftime as they were down 14-28.
The Bears come out of halftime and score 2 touchdowns to tie the game up 28-28.
Jonesboro responded with their own touchdown to take the lead back 28-35.
Another quick flip resulted in the Bears tying the game back up and then Jonesboro taking the lead right back making it 42-35.
The Tyler Hampton threw the ball to the back of the end zone to Lakobe Brent for a big touchdown, but the bears didn’t convert on the 2 point.
Even after the failed 2 point attempt, Coach Mark Kelley made a gutsy call to go for the onside to get the ball back immediately and it payed off as the Bears recovered.
The Bears then marched down the field and then Tyler Hampton pushed into the end zone to take the lead back. The Bears also converted on the 2 point attempt to make the lead 49-42 with less than a minute on the clock.
The Bears got a big defensive stop to end the game 49-42 Bears Win.
Quarterback Tyler Hampton threw for 228 yards and 4 passing touchdowns, along with 12 carries for 84 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns.
Running back Isaiah Howell had 18 carries for 95 yards.
Wide Receivers Lakobe Brent, Ryan Parham, and Mo Phillips all got into the end zone. Brent scored 2 touchdowns on 6 receptions and 77 yards. Parham had 2 receptions for 16 yards and 1 touchdown. Mo Phillips had 1 reception for 10 yards and a touchdown.
The Bears come back home this Friday for Senior Night to take on the Sheridan Hornets.
