The Sylvan Hills High School archery team showcased precision and skill at the November 15, 2025, tournament, earning a strong 3rd-place finish out of 14 high school teams.
Several team members posted personal bests during the competition. Mark Dunn led the way with a score of 279 and 17 bullseyes, earning him a bullseye medal and 4th place in the high school division. Katie Griffin hit her personal best with a score of 269 and 11 bullseyes, placing her 9th in the high school girls division. Madeline Burnette also made her mark with a score of 261 and 9 bullseyes.
Coach Benham praised the team’s performance, noting the veteran athletes encouraged and helped the new members. “We were competing as a solid team, above what even I had expected for our introductory tournament. After this tournament, I strongly suspect we will see more personal best scores, since they were so fired up and focused,” Benham said.
The team looks forward to building on this momentum for upcoming competitions and continuing to improve both individually and as a team.
