With the 2024-2025 wrestling season coming to an end, Sylvan Hills High School would like to acknowledge this year’s seniors: Riley Fazio, Adrian York, Gavin Milby, and Zion Mansfield. These students have achieved many accomplishments throughout their high school careers and were recently recognized and celebrated at the wrestling Senior Night.
Riley Fazio has been on the team for 4 years and has achieved many accomplishments including getting 4th at state their second year wrestling, 1st at state their 3rd year, attended freestyle state and Meet of Champs. Riley decided to join the wrestling team because “I needed something to do and it was a good anger release.” When asked what their favorite part about wrestling is, Riley said “[t]he team, the confidence boost, and it makes me feel strong.” After graduating from high school, Riley plans on going into the Air Force as an anesthesiologist.
The next senior we would like to recognize is Adrian York. Adrian has been on the team for 3 years and has accomplished many achievements like placing 3rd at state 2 years in a row, placing 4th at Bring the Hammer their first year on the team and 3rd the following two years. “I really just joined the team out of boredom,” Adrian said. After asking what their favorite part of wrestling was, Adrian responded “I love getting to throw people around, rolling on the mat, and traveling with the team.” After graduation, Adrian plans on going into the National Guard to train to become an Avionic Engineer.
Now for our Boy Seniors, we would first like to recognize Gavin Milby. Gavin has been on the team for 4 years and has achieved a lot in the past four years. Gavin originally joined the team out of boredom and wanted something to do with his time. When asked what his favorite part about wrestling was he said that it was winning his matches and hyping up his teammates. In his free time, Gavin likes playing Warzone and hanging out with his girlfriend. Gavin does plan on wrestling in the future. He has 2 full scholarships for wrestling.
Our last senior that we would like to recognize is Zion Mansfield. Zion has been on the wrestling team for 4 years and has dominated the sport in those 4 years. He had joined the team because he wanted a sport in which he could use his athleticism, skills, and aggression. His favorite thing about wrestling is doing cool moves while everyone is watching. When asked what he does outside of wrestling he said that he is usually hanging out with his friends. After graduation Zion plans on becoming an entrepreneur.
